Simonne Lucie Goodfellow, 1950-2008
Simonne Goodfellow of Airdrie, Alberta, passed away following a brave battle with cancer on Nov. 30, 2008. Born Dec. 3, 1950, Simonne grew up on a farm, surrounded by family and music, near Guy. She had a love for life and touched everyone with her vibrant smile and free spirit.
After graduating from University of Alberta, Simonne taught French-bilingual programs in Falher and Legal until marrying Al in 1978. She also taught in Calgary before finally settling in Airdrie in 1980.
Her life was filled with raising three daughters with Al, while remaining active in the schools, church and community.
Due to her inquisitive nature, Simonne continually challenged herself with learning, meeting new people and maintaining a close network of friends. Simonne believed in taking advantage of every moment life had to offer and to live it to the fullest. Simonne, our little ray of sunshine, will be dearly missed by her husband Al of nearly 30 years, daughters Michelle and husband Nadin, Danielle and Rachelle.
She is survived by her mother, Gabrielle (Gagnon) Johnson, sisters Renée (Loren) Guenette, Pauline (David) Johnson and Marie (Johnson) Rogers. She will also be lovingly remembered by her mother-in-law Anne (Sadownyk) Goodfellow, brother-in-law Brian (Debbie) Goodfellow, together with numerous relatives and friends. Everyone who met Simonne immediately felt her contagious energy and warm smile - this is what we will all miss the most. Prayers were held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5, 2008.
A Memorial Mass was held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 6, 2008. Services were held at St. Paul‘s Catholic Church in Airdrie, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to a special cause or charity of your choice.
