Ronald Edward Howie long time resident of Nampa passed away March 17, 2009 at the Peace River Community Health Centre at the age of 85.
Ronald was born May 29, 1923 In the Lac Magloire district to David & Esther Howie. In 1949 he took up permanent residence on his land west of Nampa where he continued to live until May 2005 at which time he moved to a senior’s apartment in Nampa. Ron volunteered many hours to various organizations and received many awards in appreciation for his contributions.
He was very interested in sports and when he was no longer able to participate you would find him at the ball diamonds, arena or curling rink watching.
He was also very active in community projects: Nampa & District Municipal Library, Nampa Historical Society, Nampa Golden Pioneers Drop In Centre, Nampa Cemetery Committee and Nampa Royal Canadian Legion just to name a few.
Ron was predeceased by his close friend Pearl Brown, his parents David & Esther Howie, sisters Dorothy Rondelet, Violet Tjostheim, & Pauline Monette, brothers Donald & Grant. Ron is survived by one sister Elsie Gour as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron died as he lived, everyone’s friend always thoughtful, loving and kind.
Funeral services for the late Ronald Howie were held March 21, 2009. Interment followed at the Nampa Cemetery under the direction of the Chapel of Memories
