James Jackson, 1938 - 2007

James (Jim) Almer Jackson, longtime resident of Crooked Creek, Alberta passed away in Grande Prairie, Alberta on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the age of 70 years. Jim was born in Daysland, Alberta on January 6, 1938. A cowboy at heart Always a cowboy at heart, Jim also worked in logging camps, drove truck and operated heavy equipment. His passion was horses and he drove chuckwagon and chariot in northern rodeos. For the past 16 years, Jim operated grader in northern Alberta and British Columbia. Jim will be remembered for his big heart, generosity and storytelling (blarney). He will be sadly missed by his wife Marguerite; daughters Isla (Steven) and Sheena; stepchildren Paulette, Danny, Laurette and Maurice; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Roy (Brenda); sister Marlene (Gordon); many nieces and nephews; other extended family; and numerous friends. He was predeceased by brother Harold E. Jackson, father Harold W. Jackson, and mother Etta P. Jackson. The celebration of life will be held at New Fish Creek Community Hall on Saturday, January 12 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to The Evelyn Sutherland Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis research or The Alberta Cancer Board.
