OBIT ~ Sylvio Jouberx, 1923-2010
|
Sylvio Joubert was born on Aug. 5, 1923 in Falher. He passed away on Jan. 5 in McLennan. He was the second youngest child in the family and the only son of Berthol and Roseanne Roy Joubert. He was a brother to five sisters: Aldea, Lucienne, Rita, Solange (who died at the age of one year), and Claire.
In 1943, Sylvio was conscripted into the army and spent a year in service in Chiliwack, BC. He was then discharged from the army for trouble he had with his feet and because he was the sole support as male head of house when his mom, Mrs. Joubert became a widow.
Sylvio returned to Falher at this time to begin a career at the Falher Co-op as a maintenance man. He remained there for 23 years.
Sylvio took pride in his work at the Co-op everything had to be done meticulously. After retiring from the Co-op, he worked a short time at the Alfalfa Plant in Falher. As his mother’s health was frail he took the responsibility to care for her full time.
He dedicated 27 years to her care until her passing. After his mother’s death, Sylvio went back to the work force and gave Chalifoux Motors seven years of his life, and then retired permanently.
Getting on in age, Sylvio made the decision to sell his house and in 2007 he moved to the Villa Beausejour where he had better care.
As a long-time citizen of Falher and a devoted member of this community, Sylvio’s presence will be missed.
His funeral service was held at the Falher Ste. Anne church on Jan. 11. The family wish to thank the hospital, homecare and the Villa staff for the care they gave Sylvio.
