Falher, Alberta

Obituary: Clement Labbe, 1961-2009

Clément (Sylva) Labbe, resident of McCreary, MB passed away on May 4 at the age of 48. Clément was born on March 14, 1961 in McLennan. Clem was the youngest of five children, and he always made his family proud. He was an avid and talented athlete. He participated in all school sports, and played local recreational hockey. In grade 11, he left home to play hockey for the Edson Arrows. Unfortunately, injuries shattered his dreams of becoming an NHL star. He returned to Falher to finish his grade 12 with his friends. He continued to enjoy various sports and travelling. Clem was loyal, honest, fun, loving, caring, generous, proud, tender-hearted and dedicated to his family, friends, and his work. Clem was a plumber and gasfitter, but his great love for the outdoors made him decide to further his education at the Lethbridge Community College, where he became a park warden. He often shared his love for his work. For Clem, being a park warden was more than a career, it was a way of life. Clem’s sudden passing has shocked all of his family and friends and left a void in many of our hearts. He was a great loving son, brother, father and husband. The love he shared is forever engraved into our hearts and remains alive within us. Clément was predeceased by his sister Irene Labbé (Lafleur). He is survived by wife Theresa of McCreary, son Nathan of Edmonton, his father Paul and mother Pauline of Falher, brother Denis (Karen) of Calgary, sister Carmen (Rick) Checknita of Edmonton, and sister Denise (Jean-Pierre) Théberge of Edmonton. Funeral services for the late Clément Labbé were held May 9 from Ste. Anne Church in Falher with Reverend Charles Lavoie officiating. Organist and soloist were Ginette and Gilbert Aubin. Pallbearers were Robert Chalifoux, Bryan Serbu, Martin Lapensée, Norman Nicolet, Marcel Lemire, Roger Turcotte. Cross bearer was George Lemire. Honourary pallbearers were fellow park wardens Glenn Schmidt, Doug Walker, Brad Bischoff, Steve Malcolm, Terry Hoggins, Bob Reside, Brian Low, and Ian Brown. Cremation and funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Memories in Peace River.
