Noella Laflamme, 1919 - 2008

Marie Yvonne Noella Laflamme, former long-time resident of Falher, late of Edmonton, passed away February 18, 2008 in Edmonton at 88 years of age. She was born September 29, 1919 in St. Leon de Standon, Quebec and arrived in Falher in 1929. She married Peter Laflamme on November 22, 1938 and she remained here, raising her family, and moved to St. Albert in 1990. In 2003, she moved to St. Andrew's Centre where she remained her final years. Noella was a woman of strong character and driving determination as demonstrated by her committment to return to school and completed her high school education and graduated in 1983- at age 60- with "Greatest Achievement" Award. Noella was well-liked and will be missed and remembered by her family. During her time in Falher, she was wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great cook, and interpreter. For many years, she operated Falher Hotel Restaurant in the 1950s, and Donnelly Corner Esso Restaurant in the 1960s. Above all, Noella loved to be surrounded by her family and spent many hours with her children and grandchildren.
