Jeanine Laitres, 1935-2008
Jeanine Laitres, former resident of Marie-Reine, AB, passed away on April 19th, 2008, at the age of 72 years in Hinton, AB.
Jeanine (née Begin) was born in McLennan on Oct 19th, 1935, and was raised in Girouxville, AB.
She is survived by her husband Léo, children: Lorraine and husband Daniel Moulun of Hinton, Roland and wife Barb of Hinton, Suzanne and husband Michel Bélanger of Edmonton, Denis and wife Jeanine of Marysville, Michigan; eight grandchildren: Rachelle, Marc, David, Amanda (Aaron), Karina, René, Lisa, and Jeffery. She also leaves behind three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held for Jeanine on Friday, April 25 at Our Lady of the Foothills Roman Catholic Church in Hinton; Father Brian Inglis officiating. Internment of the ashes was held in the Hinton Cemetery on Sunday April 27.
She and Leo raised their family, ran the general store, and farmed near Marie-Reine, retiring in 1991.
As snowbirds, they enjoyed many warm winters in the southern USA and sunny summers fishing at their lake property in Joussard AB.
Known for her great sense of humour and “joie de vivre”, Jeanine bravely struggled with a rare form of lymphatic cancer. She now is at peace and will be missed by all.
