Gertrude Lavoie, 1914-2008
Gertrude Lavoie, resident of Falher, AB., passed away on June 11, 2008, in McLennan at the age of 93.
Gertrude was born on September 26, 1914, at Bathurst, New Brunswick and arrived in the region in May of 1944.
She is predeceased by her husband Louis Lavoie, parents Antonius Van Der Pluijm and Ellen Christie, two brothers John and Doceity, two sisters Antonia and Alma, son-in-law Mariel Soucy, grandson Mark Tardif, and great-granddaughter Brooklyn Tardif.
Gertrude is survived by daughters Rita Soucy, Albertine (Lucien Cote), Odile (Gilles Tardif), Alma (Cyrille Fournier), Irene (Marcel Tardif), Mariel (Jacques Richer), Blanche (Terry Robinson), Doris (Fred Plante), 22 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Therese Lavoie.
Funderal services for the late Gertrude Lavoie were held June 14, 2008, from St. John The Baptist Cathedral with Reverend Tony Chakkunga V.C. officiating. Organist was Rolande Johnson and soloist was Ernest Johnson.
Interment followed at the McLennan Cemetery with funeral arrangements under the Chapel of Memories, Peace River.
