Burton MacMillan, 1913 - 2008
Burton Lawrence MacMillan, late of Edmonton, Alberta, and formerly of McLennan and Peace River, passed away January 27, 2008 at 94 years of age.
Bert was born April 22, 1913 in Sydney on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
Bert relocated to Alberta in Peace River with his family and then to McLennan.
He worked on the Northern Alberta Railway until he retired in 1978.
Bert was a member of the Elks Club and the Royal Canadian Legion.
He is predeceased by his Lorretta in 1995, his wife of 53 years; father Daniel MacMillan, mother Theresa MacMillan; brothers Donald, Alistair, William, and one sister Christina.
Leaving a legacy
Bert leaves his legacy to his loving family; son Gary MacMillan of Edmonton, daughter Sherall (Patrick) Kennedy of Sylvan Lake, grandson Matthew Gillott of Edmonton, granddaughter Melissa (Rob) DiNicola and a very special great-granddaughter Faith DiNicola of Edmonton.
He bids farewell to his remaining siblings Ted (Alice) MacMillan of McLennan, Howard (Terry) MacMillan of Calgary, sisters Eileen (Dick) Abbenbrock of Calgary, Theresa Clark of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Ruth Kennedy of Grande Prairie, and Edith Laskiwski of Surrey, B.C.
It was Bert’s wish not to have a funeral.
A graveside service will be held for the family at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Park Memorial in Edmonton.
