Falher, Alberta

Gerard Marceau, 1934-2008

Gerard Lucien Marceau, resident of Girouxville, AB, passed away on April 16, 2008, in McLennan, AB, at the age of 73. Gerard was born on August 6, 1934 at Girouxville, AB. Gerry spent some of his younger years in Vancouver where he attended school for a few years before they moved back to Girouxville. As a young lad, Gerry worked in lumber camps in the winter time and went on to farming with his brothers, Antonio and Ovila North West of Jean Cote. Gerry enjoyed the years he spent trapping with his brother Ovila in the Three Creeks area. After the sale of the trap line and his farm, Gerry went to work as an operator on the Shaftsbury Ferry for a few years and later on he worked as a heavy equipment operator for miscellaneous companies. As a personal hobby Gerry started whittling away with a pocket knife creating beautiful masterpieces with scraps of wood. As his interests grew, it prompted him to construct entire projects from memories of his younger days. Gerard was predeceased by his parents Romeo and Anne-Marie Marceau, brothers Jos, Antonio (Adrienne Foisy), Wilfrid, Ovila, sisters, Roseanne (Aldeo Charbonneau), Simone (Pierre Leclerc), Yvonne (Paul Leclerc), Rollande (Raoul Audet) (Armand Bellerive), and Roselaine. Gerry is survived by his wife, Delores and two sisters, Lea Lanctot from Villa Beausejour in Falher and Eva Russoski, from 100 Mile House, B.C., sisters in law, Aldea Marceau from Villa Beausejour in Falher, Irene Marceau from Girouxville and numerous nieces and nephews.
