Marcel Oullet, 1941-2009
Marcel Ouellette, resident of Girouxville, passed away on Jan. 30, 2009, in McLennan at the age of 67.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1941 in McLennan. Marcel attended the Girouxville school.
He farmed, and in 1975 purchased the home quarter where he resided with his younger brother Richard.
Through his life, he enjoyed many sports. One of his first sports was probably softball in which he was an avid catcher.
He also enjoyed hunting, hockey, curling, snowmobiling, quading and playing pool. During the last few winters, Marcel would go to the Club Etoile Seniors’ Centre in Girouxville six days each week to play pool.
People could have set their clocks by his arrival. His pool companions will really miss him as his passing has left them with a big void.
Marcel was predeceased by his parents; Joseph and Irene (Bruyere) Ouellette, brothers; Daniel and Henri, sister-in-law Jeanine Ouellette, and brother-in-law George Simard.
Marcel is survived by sisters Agathe Ouellette, Germaine Simard (Falher), five brothers; Norbert (Lena), Adrien (Rita), Laurier (Doris), Richard (all of Giroxville), Roger (Valleyview), sister-in-law Lena (Godbout) Ouellette of Donnelly, many nieces and nephews.
Marcel was a quiet and friendly person and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services for the late Marcel Ouellette were held Feb. 4, 2009 at the N-D de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Girouxville, with Father Maurice Marion officiating. Organist was Ginette Aubin, pallbearers were George Ouellette, Roger Simard, Hector Ouellette, Rene Ouellette, Claude Ouellette, Paul Simard, and cross bearer Reg Ouellette and all Marcel’s nephews.
Interment followed at the N-D de Lourdes cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Memories in Peace River.
In his memory, if friends so wish, donations to the Alberta Cancer Society would be appreciated.
