Marie Oullet, 1915-2008

Marie Anne Geraldine Simone (Roussel) Ouellet of Tangent passed away at the McLennan Sacred Heart Healthcare Centre on May 1, 2008 at the age of 92 years. Marie Anne, daughter of Louis and Marie Louise Carrier, was born in St. Valerin, Conté de Rimouski, Quebec on August 15, 1915. In 1936, she married Louis Ouellet, moved to Alberta in 1944 on the train with their 6 children, 11 more came after. She lived on her farm for 64 years. She was no longer able to care for herself and moved in with her daughter Gertrude. She stayed at the Villa Beauséjour for a short time before her passing. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, her daughter Simone, three sons-in-law, Olivier Lemoine, Roger Laverdière, and Raymond Lepage, four grandchildren and one great grandchild, two brothers, Omer, Leonard, and two sisters Imelda and Gertrude. She is survived by 16 children, Rachel (Fern) Thibeault, Grande Prairie, AB, Gertrude (André) Sylvain, Girouxville, AB,Carmen (Lionel), Grande Prairie, AB, Roch (Pierrette), Tobie (Linda). Monique (Frank) Hoeppner, Villeneuve,AB. Rodrigue (Guétane), Gregoire (Denise), Sexsmith,AB, Madelaine (Dave) Buchinski, Inverary,Ontario,Yvonne (Wayne) Walisser, Floyd, Knobs, in USA, Marc (Nellie), Nicole (Brian) Laschowski, Two Hills, AB, Magella (Debbie), Gilles, Geraldine (Gerry) Vandeligt, Eaglesham, AB, Micheline (Gabriel) Turcotte, Guy,AB., 47 Grandchildren, 53 Great Grandchlidren, one sister, Germaine Cimon, three brothers, Gérard, Adamard and Raymond and numerous nephews and nieces. She will long be remembered for her gentleness, her gift of forgiveness and her patience. Funeral services for the late Marie Anne Ouellet were held at the Sts. Martyrs Canadian Catholic Parish in Tangent on May 5, 2008, with Deacon Reg Bouchard and Reverend Boniface N’Kulu Lupitshi O.S.B. officiating. Music was provided by Ernest and Rolande Johnson. Pallbearers were, Denis Laverdière, Eric Vandeligt, Jason Ouellet, Louis Lemoine, Denis Ouellet, and Wade Ouellet with Amanda and Stacy Ouellet cross beariers , honourary pallbearers, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Readings were done by Gilles Sylvain and Charene Ouellet, intentions by Chantale Pulleyblank, and Carol Kordyban. Words of remembrance were read by Joèl and Monique Lavoie. Marie Anne was buried beside her husband in the Tangent Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the arrangements by Chapel of Memories of Peace River. Memorial donations can be made to the Smoky River Palliative Care Society in McLennan, Alberta.
