Romeo Perra 1967-2009

Romeo Perra, long time resident of McLennan, passed away at 65 years in Edmonton at the Cross Cancer Institute on Oct. 16.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Annette, son Leo, daughter-in-law Colleen, daughter Lynda, son Lester, his mother Blondine Perra, 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brother Leonel (Carol) of Vancouver, brother Manny (Maxine) of Montreal, and sister Solange (Ernest Newbold) of Edmonton.
He is predeceased by his father Alex and granddaughter Haley.
Romeo was raised in Spirit River and after finishing school and a computer course he went to work for Zeller’s as an assistant manager. He was transferred several times, taking him from Vancouver Island to New Brunswick.
In 1966, Annette joined him in Chatham, ON where they were married. In 1967, Leo was born in Montreal. In December 1969, Romeo quit Zeller’s in Fredricton and moved back to Spirit River.
In 1970, Lynda was born and that same year Romeo was hired to work for Danbrook and Pelland. Lester was born in 1971 in McLennan.
Romeo worked for Danbrook and Pelland for several years then went to work for Hollandia Bakery.
In 1996 he quit Hollandia to join Annette in the coffee business (Par Coffee Co.)
Romeo was involved in several organizations, such as a volunteer fireman, curling club, ski club, golf course, chamber of commerce, tourism, and the church.
Romeo loved to travel, especially to Mexico and their other home in Arizona. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and will always be remembered for his kindness, unselfishness, wisdom, love and his hearty laugh.
Funeral services for Romeo Perra were held at St. John the Baptist Cathedral on Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. with Archbishop Gerard Pettipas CSsR officiating and Father Charles Lavoie and Deacan Reg Bouchard assisting.
