Yolande Gracia Savard, 1930-2008
Yolande Gracia Savard (nee Sasseville) of Jean Coté passed away at the Manoir du Lac in McLennan on June 8, 2008 at the age of 78. Yolande was the first daughter and third child of Thomas and Adélaïde Sasseville was born in Desbiens, Quebec on April 21, 1930.
The Sasseville family arrived in Jean Coté Aug. 8 1947 when she was 17 years old.
On June 15, 1950 at the age of 20, Yolande married Paul Savard in Jean Coté in a triple wedding ceremony with her brother Lucien and sister Gracia. She lived on the farm in Jean Coté for 50 years until she was no longer able to care for herself.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband Paul and sister Gracia.
She is survived by four children, Pauline (Mark) Morgan (Kitimat, B.C.), André (Lisa) (Dawson Creek, B.C.), Yvon (Gisele) (Jean Coté) and Lorraine (Angelo Forget) (Girouxville).
Eight grandchildren, Yolande (Scott Pritchard), Steven, Sarah, Michelle, Daniel, Eric, Charmaine and Joan. Three great grandchildren, Alexa, Rylee and Adam. Nine brothers, Lucien, Léopold, Ghislain, Roland, Jacques, Gilbert, Claude, Marcel and Bertrand Sasseville, and three sisters Noëlla Bérubé, Gilberte Sauvageau and Madeleine Dion.
Funeral service for the late Yolande Savard was held at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Girouxville on June 14 with Reverend Boniface N’Kulu Lupitshi O.S.B. Officiating. Music was provided by Ernest and Rolande Johnson. Eulogy was read by Scott Pritchard with 1st reading and intentions by André Bérubé and 2nd reading by Hilas Dion.
Arrangements were made by the Chapel of Memories of Peace Rivers.
