David Sobolewski, 1964 - 2007
David Peter Sobolewski, late of Edmonton, Alberta, and formerly of McLennan, passed away December 24, 2007 in McLennan at 43 years of age.
David was born July 1, 1964 to John and Norma Sobolewski in Valleyview, Alberta.
David received his education at Providence Catholic School in McLennan and graduated from Georges P. Vanier school in Donnelly in 1982.
He left school with many lifelong friends.
David worked in McLennan for a few years after graduating.
Trying out several different jobs with several businesses in town.
He finally found his niche in the electrical field, starting his apprenticeship with with Faulkner Electric.
After working for several years in Edmonton, David decided to advance his education with a power systems technician certificate.
This enabled David to work throughout North America and Brazil on many high-voltage projects.
David enjoyed many hobbies, including model aircraft building, scuba diving, fishing, travelling, and cooking.
Eating at David’s house usually meant a barbecue at any time of the year.
His turkey fryer travelled many miles to make friends and family deep-fried turkey and hot wings.
David is predeceased by his grandparents Peter and Veronica Sobolewski and John and Elizabeth Kerekanich.
David is survived by his parents John and Norma Sobolewski of McLennan and sisters Christine (Les) Taylor of McLennan, and Karen (Rick) Dahl of Grande Prairie, and three nephews Nathan Taylor, Kyle Dahl, and Jonathan Dahl.
A celebration of life service was for the late David Sobelewski was held December 30 in McLennan at St. John the Baptist Cathedral with Deacon Reg Bouchard officiating.
Donations in David’s memory may be made to the University of Alberta DCA Cancer Research, c/o CKYL Radio, Bag 300, Peace River, AB, T8S 1T5.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Memories, Peace River.
