Falher, Alberta

Noella Tanguay, 1921-2007

Our Mom, Noella Tanguay, longtime resident of the Falher-Donnelly area, passed away August 5, 2007 in Grande Prairie at Queen Elizabeth Hospital at 85 years of age. Mom, daughter of Wilfrid and Rose-Aimee Morin, was born December 23, 1921 on the family farmstead south of Falher. Warm heart and hospitable Mom, who selflessly dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family, including brothers and sisters, and others, was admired, loved, and respected by many. Not only was Mom a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to us all, but also a caregiver to so very many. Mom worked alongside our Dad, homesteading a quarter section of land, all the while raising eight children, maintaining a home, livestock, gardening, and spent countless hours cooking and sewing for family and others. Her home was opened to everyone. Food was always in abundance and her warm hospitality and inviting smile welcomed everyone and anyone, as family, to her kitchen table. Truly the kitchen was the heart of her home. Mom not only enjoyed people, conversation and laughter, but also enjoyed reading novels and crocheting which somehow in her hectic life, found time to do. Mom, you were a special lady, and you will be greatly missed by all who loved you so. We are so grateful for your love, understanding, and compassion, and you will live on in our hearts forever. Mom was predeceased by Emile Tanguay, her husband of 50 years; three daughters, Helene Highstead, Lucille Szabo, and Jeannette Nolette; one son Arthur Tanguay, her parents Wilfrid and Rose-Aimee Morin, seven sisters Alfreda, Juliette, Rosa, Rose, Luciennce, Bernadette, and Yvette; four brothers, Sylvio, Henri, Roland and Roger. She is survived by her daughter Denise Malbeuf of Falher; three sons Roger Tanguay of Grande Prairie, Paul Tanguay of Falher, and Richard Tanguay of Comox, British Columbia; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three sisters Gracia Aubin of Edmonton, Fernande Fortier of Chilliwack, British Columbia; and Emella Sales of Okotoks; and one brother Sylva Morin of Falher. Funeral services for the late Noella Tanguay were held August 10 in Falher at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church with Deacon Reg Bouchard officiating. Ginette Aubin was soloist. Pallbearers were Robert Pelletier, Myles Girard, Dwayne Tanguay, Eric Tanguay, Justin Tanguay, Kirt Tanguay, Dave Stewart, and Paul Tanguay. Honourary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment followed at Donnelly Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Memories, Peace River.
