Jeanne Turcotte, 1924 - 2007

Marie Antoinette Jeanne Turcotte (nee Babineau), late of Falher, Alberta, passed away April 15, 2007 in McLennan at 83 years of age. Jeanne Turcotte was born March 7, 1924 in Falher and lived in this area all her life. She is the eldest of three children of Phillippe Babineau and Alice Pelletier. She spent her life assisting people and community organizations including the Dame de St. Anne at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Falher and the committee at Villa Beausejour. For many years, Jeanne and her husband worked as a team in various businesses they owned and operated, including a locker plant (current building of Henngeo Fabrics) and Gerry’s Groceries (now site of A&M Confectionary). Jeanne worked at Falher Co-op for many years and then served as postmaster for the Falher office of Canada Post until she retired. When she moved to the Villa Beausejour in Falher, she was often seen playing cards with other residents, her favorite pasttime. Jeanne is predeceased by her husband Gerard, son Jean, parents Phillippe Babineau and Alice Pelletier, and sister Pauline Chalifoux. She is survived by her children: son Denis (Doris) Turcotte of Mackenzie, British Columbia, son Lucien (Nicole) Turcotte of Falher, daughter Lorraine (Ron) Berube of Bonny- ville, daughter Yvonne (Raymond) Veraart of Edmonton, and daughter Lori-Lee (Alain) Simard of Airdrie; and sister Annette Charois of Joussard. Funeral services were held April 20 at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church is Falher with Reverend Falher Boni- face N’Kula OSB officiating. Organist was Ginette Aubin and solist was Lori-Lee Turcotte-Simard. Pallbearers were Serge Berube, David Turcotte, Lise Turcotte, Justin Berube, Jean Turcotte, Gilles Berube, Phillippe Turcotte, Marc Berube, and Daniel Veraart. Interment followed at St. Anne Cemetery in Falher. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Memories, Peace River.
